RAD-150 (TLB-150)

RAD-150, also called TLB-150 and sometimes written RAD150 or TLB150, is sold as the benzoate ester of the selective androgen receptor modulator RAD-140 (testolone), and UK Anti-Doping lists it by name among SARMs prohibited in sport. Sellers say the ester slows release of the parent molecule; no peer-reviewed study has examined this. This page lists every brand of RAD-150 stocked at Free Muscle, compared on strength per capsule, capsules per pack and batch testing, and sets out honestly how thin the published evidence for this compound is.

What is RAD-150?

RAD-150 is described by its manufacturers as a benzoate ester of RAD-140, a non-steroidal SARM first reported by Radius Health in 2011. In pharmacology, esterification is a familiar technique: attaching an ester group to a molecule that carries a free hydroxyl often makes it more fat-soluble, so that it is released more slowly and acts for longer once the ester is cleaved by esterase enzymes. Whether RAD-150 actually behaves this way in any biological system has not been tested in the published literature. The structure is not a market invention, however: a Radius Health patent with a 2008 priority date, granted in the US in 2012 (US 8,268,872), describes it as Example 87, one of several RAD-140 esters whose synthesis the patent sets out. No published study of the ester followed.

Everything that can be said with any confidence about its mechanism is inherited from the parent molecule. RAD-140 binds the androgen receptor with high affinity and was designed for tissue selectivity, favouring muscle and bone over prostate. If RAD-150 is hydrolysed to RAD-140 in vivo, its receptor pharmacology would be expected to follow, but the rate and extent of that conversion, and the fate of the benzoate fragment, are unknown.

RAD-150 has no human trial data, no published animal data, and has never been submitted for approval anywhere. Compute total milligrams per pack (strength per capsule multiplied by capsules per pack), divide the price by that figure for cost per milligram, and remember that a milligram of the ester contains less of the parent molecule because the benzoate group adds mass: by formula weight, 393.8 of the ester's 497.9 comes from RAD-140, roughly 79 per cent. That figure is worked out from the formulas; it is not a measurement of how much RAD-140 is released. Above all, check the batch certificate: with a compound this poorly characterised, an independent identity and purity assay is the only objective information available. Our guide to price per milligram covers the arithmetic.

Batch testing and certificates of analysis

RAD-150 has no published analytical literature, so the batch certificate is the main evidence of what a capsule holds, and for an ester it has to answer a sharper question than usual: is the material the ester, or RAD-140 sold under another name? In liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry, the ester's protonated molecule is expected near m/z 498, calculated from its formula, while RAD-140 gives about m/z 394. A distinct RAD-140 peak alongside the ester suggests leftover starting material or partial hydrolysis. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), which some certificates include, is a separate identity technique that shows how the atoms are connected and can tell an ester from its parent without relying on mass.

Janoshik Analytical, an independent laboratory, tests every Free Muscle batch of RAD-150, and we email the certificate for any batch on request when given the batch number printed on the bottle. The ester has never been granted an MHRA marketing authorisation, which rules out its sale or presentation as a medicine, and, as UK Anti-Doping points out, the Food Standards Agency considers SARMs unauthorised novel foods, making their sale or advertising as food, or inside dietary supplements, unlawful in the UK. Free Muscle supplies RAD-150 for laboratory research only, to buyers aged 18 or over.

The 2026 WADA Prohibited List does not name the ester, but the S1.2 heading reads "including, but not limited to", and its SARM entry gives examples rather than a closed list.
